![]() With Windows 10 now available free to Mac users wishing to use Boot Camp, I decided to try that route but was stymied when I found out that the SSD upgrade I had performed on my laptop was not compatible with Boot Camp. ![]() I decided to look for a way to update the hand control software using Windows on my Mac since the current Java based Celestron updater will not work on older version 4 hand controls. Unfortunately the newer NexStar Plus hand control is incompatible with older CPCSeries scopes so I could not simply buy a new hand control. I was very disappointed to find that the GPS clock reset that happened in 2019 made the version 4.03 hand control software very difficult if not impossible to use. Meanwhile my job required more and more of my time and I used the scope less and less.Īfter mothballing the scope for a decade due to career needs, I recently retired and decided to restart my astronomy hobby. I did not have access to a PC then and since the ‘scope worked perfectly it was not a concern. ![]() I had been unable to update software on my CPC Series ‘scope since purchase (circa 2005) due to the incompatibility of Celestron software installers with my MacBook Pro laptop.
